Course Name : Education 205 – Statistics in Education
Course Description : This course includes the basic concepts, descriptive statistics, probability topics, normal distribution, central limit theorem, confidence interval, hypothesis testing with one sample and with two samples, chi-square distribution, linear regression and correlation and One-way ANOVA.
Prerequisite : None
Lecture Unit : 3 units – 3 hours/week
Course Outcome : At the end of the course, the graduate students should be able to:
1. Employ the different methods of data collection and possibly identified the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
2. Discuss and Interact with fellow graduate students regarding the basic concepts in survey methods and its directed significance.
3. Process, summarize and analyze the data in terms of location, spread and fractile measures.
4. Perform estimation and hypothesis testing and able to distinguish the differences between these two concepts.
5. Perform ANOVA in determining the variations between and within groups by means of an F-ratio.
6. Perform chi-square test and correlation analysis in determining the relationship between two observed variables.
